Mel B Is ‘Worried’ About Being Labelled A Homewrecker
Mel B is reportedly worried she will be branded a “homewrecker” over allegations she dated a married police officer.
The Spice Girls star was claimed to have had a fling with a real life Beverly Hills policeman following her split from husband Stephen Belafonte — and now her rumored lover’s marriage is said to be in crisis, The Sun reports.
Recent reports suggested Mel B, 47, struck up a romance with the man, who has been named by The Mirror as crisis negotiator Ryan Lawrence.
She later insisted she is single, but the publication now claims Mel B is worried the accusations will affect her ongoing divorce battle and her legal wrangling with former nanny Lorraine Gilles.
Lorraine, 26, has sued the star over her claims the nanny slept with her husband during the marriage.
Mel B is said to be concerned the allegations involving the married cop may damage her credibility in court.
The Mirror also reports that the claims have put a strain on Lawrence’s one-year marriage to wife Morgan, who has allegedly left the marital home and hit out at Mel B on Instagram.
She is reported to have branded the singer “old spice” and written: “You will never replace me.”
According to TMZ, she was dating the policeman in secret for the last few months, amid her bitter divorce battle with Belafonte.
The website claimed Mel, who met the policeman through mutual friends, stayed at her house “five or six nights a week.”
But Mel, who has a daughter with Eddie Murphy, the star of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, has hit back at the claims.
During filming for America’s Got Talent, the singer addressed her relationship status.
After watching an Air Force Academy group’s performance, she told them how impressed she was with their efforts. Mel added: “And yes … I am so happy to be single right now …”
Mel dated Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy very briefly back in 2006 and gave birth to their daughter Angel the following year.
At the time Eddie shocked his legion of loyal fans, and Mel, when he demanded she did a DNA test to prove she was his child.
He said: “I don’t know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test.”
Eddie was ordered to pay $45,000 a month to Mel for Angel, who is currently 10, up until the age of 18, which is a total of around $9 million.
Mel split from Belafonte this year and she sensationally accused him of abusing her during their turbulent 10-year marriage.
The divorce is still ongoing and the singer could be facing a multimillion-dollar settlement payout.
