Tom Cruise Thanks Fans After Injury
Tom Cruise has thanked fans for their concern and support after he broke his ankle while filming a stunt for the latest Mission: Impossible film.
Production on the sixth film in the franchise, M:I 6: Mission Impossible, will go on hiatus while he recovers but the release date of the film will not change, the studio behind the movie has said.
A statement from Paramount, issued to industry website Deadline, said: “During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt.
“Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, and the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018.
“Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.”
Cruise is known for performing many of his own stunts on action films, including in the latest Mission: Impossible film Rogue Nation.
The sixth film with see him reunited with his Rogue Nation co-star Rebecca Ferguson, while Superman star Henry Cavill and The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby join the franchise.
