Nicole Kidman Wants To Work With Colin Farrell On A Third Project
Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell are looking for a joint movie project so they can be co-stars for the third time.
The Australian actress starred alongside the Phone Booth actor in The Beguiled and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, which both screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May, and they enjoyed their collaborations so much that they are hoping to team up again.
“We would say to each other, we’re in rep (repertory theater) together – a film rep! A little two-handed theater company!” she told Total Film magazine. “We now want to go and do the third thing, but we need someone to offer us something.
“That would be cool – because they are so different, the two films, good lord! As Colin and I said, ‘How amazing is that- to flit between those two?'”
The Beguiled, directed by Sofia Coppola, is a Civil War-set drama in which Colin plays a Union soldier who takes shelter in an girls’ boarding school while Sacred Deer, by The Lobster director Yorgos Lanthimos, is a psychological thriller about a surgeon who develops a bond with a sinister boy.
Nicole, who plays the school’s headmistress in The Beguiled, admitted she initially hoped to work with Coppola on a different project but it didn’t work out.
“When she called me up… she’d offered me something else and it didn’t come together and then she said, ‘I’ve written this script and do you want to do this with me?'” Nicole recalled. “I said, ‘Of course Sofia, I’ll do anything with you!”
She explained that she had a connection to Sofia through Australian director Jane Campion, who has known 50-year-old Nicole since she was 14, and added “Jane and I love Sofia”.
Nicole has had a busy year, with other upcoming releases also including Campion’s TV series Top of the Lake and How to Talk To Girls At Parties.
