Tiffany Haddish has insisted she was joking when she said she wanted to work with Bill Cosby.
The Girls Trip star had been asked during an interview with the Los Angeles Times recently who was still on her bucket list to work with Bill Cosby.
“Bill Cosby – I still want to work with Bill Cosby, I don’t care, I’ll drink the juice. I’ll drink the juice. I’ll take a nap. I don’t give a damn,” Tiffany said. “But seriously, I would love for him to play my grandfather in something.”
Former comedian Cosby has been fighting numerous counts of sexual assault with his lawyers for the past few years.
And as she attended the 2017 TCA Summer Press Tour in Beverly Hills, California, on Thursday, Tiffany was asked about the remark, to which she replied that she had been trying to inject some humor in to a long day of interviews.
“What I said was a joke,” the comedienne-turned-actress said. “I don’t know if you’ve ever been interviewed before. You do 27 interviews and you’re supposed to be humorous all that time. You’re gonna say some bad jokes. You’re gonna come up with a few not-good jokes.
“I was trying to make it seem like I’m not afraid to do anything. I’m not afraid of any kind of job, I’m not afraid to play any kind of role, as long as it doesn’t compromise my morals.”
Tiffany Haddish was at the TCA Summer Press Tour to promote her new series The Last O.G., which also stars Tracy Morgan and Cedric the Entertainer.
Despite being in the industry for years, Girls Trip has finally put Tiffany on the map. And reflecting on her success at the panel, Tiffany laughed: “I feel like a foster kid who’s been in the system for a long time and then turned 16 and somebody adopted them and said, ‘You can go to college and you ain’t got to pay no school loans or nothing’. I’m happy! I’ve been accepted finally after all these years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears.”
