Soul Legend William Bell Wrote Ballad To Help Sick Pal
Soul legend William Bell wrote his hit new tune I Will Take Care of You to help a friend recover from a stroke. The uplifting ballad, which features on the 77-year-old singer’s new Grammy-winning album This is Where I Live, was inspired by an elderly friend’s health concerns.
“That was the primary reason behind the song,” Bell tells WENN. “We realized that people when they get elderly think they’re all alone and we’re saying within the song, ‘Don’t worry, I’ve got your back. I’ll take care of you’.”
The Private Number singer’s pal is now well on the way to recovery, and he admits the song was a big help.
“They’re coming along,” he adds. “They love the idea that someone cares… When you’re down, that’s the test of caring and true friendship.”
