Santana Teams Up With Isley Brothers For New Album
Carlos Santana and his wife have joined R&B veterans Ronald and Ernie Isley in the studio for a new album. The Isley Brothers stars briefly appeared on the Santana IV album last year, and it seems that collaboration has led to a bigger project.
Power of Peace, which is due for release in early August 2017, features Santana on guitar and his wife Cindy Blackman on drums, and includes covers of songs made famous by Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, and Stevie Wonder.
There’s also one new track written and sung by Cindy.
Announcing the new album on Monday, Carlos Santana said, “There is a spirit of creativity that came knocking and presented itself as a golden opportunity to do something with and for a supreme musician, who I consider to be the best in the world… Like Michael Jackson, John Lennon and Bob Marley, he’s (Ronald Isley) an iconic supreme of the highest order. Cindy and I feel very blessed to offer him this gift.”
“It was an absolute joy working on this album with Carlos,” Ronald Isley adds. “I hope this record carries the spirit of hope, love and peace to the world that it brought to me, my brother and Carlos.”
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Ernie Isley revealed the two groups are considering a joint tour to support the upcoming album.
