Kirsten Dunst found it difficult to act around Elle Fanning as the two actresses became close friends while shooting The Beguiled. The Interview With the Vampire star reveals she hates it when friends and family members visit her film sets, because she finds it hard to perform when people who know her well are watching, and as she and Elle grew close on the set of the new drama she found it difficult to act in front of her.
“When I have friends or family come visit me on set, I get very self-conscious because they know me so well,” Kirsten Dunst tells Dazed magazine, “and the more Elle and I got to know each other, the more we became friends.
“When you have to act in front of your friend you get really self-conscious. And then, add a bunch of inside jokes to that on set and you’re screwed.”
Kirsten Dunst admits she’s struck by her new friend’s confidence, adding, “There’s definitely a kindred spirit, soulmate thing that I feel with Elle, but Elle is more confident than I was at 19.”
And Fanning is thrilled she’s good friends with one of her favorite actresses: “When I think of all of my favorite movies, Kirsten is in those movies. She just makes the best choices, like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which is such an amazing movie. All of the films she’s in are so different, like Melancholia.”
