Ricky Martin Begins Filming Versace TV Series Role
Ricky Martin has begun filming on Ryan Murphy’s TV series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story in Miami. In pictures obtained by the Daily Mirror, the Livin’ la Vida Loca singer was seen dressed in a black muscle vest with high-waisted black trousers as he stepped into character as Antonio D’Amico, the long-term lover of fashion designer Versace for the FX series.
He also styled his hair in a short crop emulating Antonio’s 1990s style with a shaggy fringe.
The 45-year-old pop singer, who is billed as a guest star on season three of American Crime Story, is pictured with actor Edgar Ramirez of Joy fame, who takes the titular role as the Italian designer who was tragically murdered outside his Miami home in 1997.
The 10-episode series, which is based on the true crime book Vulgar Favors by Maureen Orth, follows the events leading up to Versace’s slaying outside his Miami Beach mansion.
The pair were spotted filming on location at the Miami Beach mansion where Versace was shot dead by Andrew Cunanan. Martin joins a cast that includes Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Darren Criss as serial killer Cunanan and New Girl’s Max Greenfield.
