President Donald Trump‘s modelling agency, Trump Model Management, has closed its doors. The head of the United States made his billions as a businessman before turning to politics, in a move that was ridiculed before he eventually won the presidential election in November 2016, and beat rival Hillary Clinton to the White House.

But now one of his previous ventures, Trump Model Management, has folded in the wake of his political success.

“On the heels of the recent sale of the Miss Universe Organization (formerly owned by Trump), the Trump Organization is choosing to exit the modelling industry,” a company spokesperson told The New York Post.

“While we enjoyed many years of success, we are focused on our core businesses in the real estate and golf industries and the rapid expansion of our hospitality division.”

The agency was hit with controversy last summer 2016 for violating immigration rules, when three of its models were allowed to work without the right documents.

It also hit headlines in November when model Maggie Rizer quit the agency in the days before the election because she didn’t want to be in “the least bit related to the Trump brand”.

A former Trump Models agent spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the job fears that surrounded those who worked for the company.

“I feel really sad and hurt that it had to end this way, we were a very tight group and worked very well together,” they said. “We did a great job and our models clearly loved us, they stayed until the end. But to see people terrified for their job security and their future? That wasn’t nice, especially when it was not our fault that the name of the agency was what it was.”

Trump Models was founded in 1999 and represented the likes of Jodie Kidd, Yasmin Le Bon and 85-year-old catwalk star Carmen Dell’Orefice.
