Nicole Kidman Options Film Rights For Cuddles Play
Nicole Kidman is helping to adapt Off-Broadway vampire drama Cuddles for the big screen. The actress has optioned the movie rights for the Joseph Wilde play through her Blossom Films production banner, and has recruited the London-based playwright to revamp his script for the adaptation, reports Deadline.com.
Cuddles, which follows the story of a woman who keeps her vampire sister hidden away in a dark attic, first opened on the London stage in 2013 and returned two years later.
It transferred to New York last year and won over critics, with a New York Times reviewer branding it “a sensational little shocker”.
And it appears Kidman was just as impressed with Wilde’s work.
“Joe’s voice is so beautifully subversive,” she writes in a statement. “He’s exactly the kind of young writer Blossom is looking to support.”
