Joan Collins Honored With Damehood By Prince Charles
Joan Collins has been made a Dame by Prince Charles in a ceremony at London’s Buckingham Palace.
The 81-year-old actress said after the investiture ceremony that not in a billion years did she think she would be made a dame.
The ‘Dynasty’ star, who was honored for her charity work, including with the NSPCC and breast cancer research, added that it wasn’t anything she ever aspired to as she just wanted to be “jobbing actress.”
Collins, who is also a patron of children’s hospice charity Shooting Star Chase that nominated her for the honour, was accompanied by her fifth husband, Percy Gibson, and her daughter, Tara Newley.
Collins, who can also be seen alongside Elizabeth Hurley in ‘The Royals,’ revealed that she was still working and had a lot of irons in the fire, one of them is ‘The Time of Their Lives,’ a film project for which she and prospective co-star Pauline Collins are attempting to raise funds.
