Singer Nicole Scherzinger Has Dumped F1 Champ Lewis Hamilton After He refuses To Marry Her
Devastated singer Nicole Scherzinger has dumped Formula 1 champ Lewis Hamilton after he refused to marry her, according to reports.
The couple had been together on/off for seven years, but the relationship apparently hit a wall after a string of arguments around Christmas and New Year.
Close friends revealed the former Pussycat Dolls singer made it clear she wanted marriage and children, but her 30-year-old beau refused.
“It really is over this time,” a source told The Sun. “Nicole has finally had enough. She’s completely gutted and feels lost about her future.”
A few months ago, the duo were reportedly planning to get engaged, but distance and their own driving ambition eventually tore them apart.
The Don’t Cha singer, 36, is primarily based in Los Angeles while British Lewis lives in Monaco.
“They’d been fighting for months but things had got much worse,” the source said. “They spend so much time apart that things just became untenable.”
In an interview with the The Telegraph in the UK after news of the split broke, the former X-Factor judge remained tight-lipped about her relationship woes. However she hinted at the personal toll of her career choices.
“I look at this as a great blessing for me to be able to take on this role … but I have made sacrifices,” Scherzinger said, referring to her current stint in the West End production of musical Cats.
“This is very time consuming. I’ve left LA, left all my friends and my family. It’s sacrificing your time in relationships, with loved ones, and my work.”
Lewis also is focused on his career, with reports he is more committed than ever to his sport.
His long-held dream is to win three world titles like his hero Ayrton Senna — a goal which requires total focus.
However he revealed he also felt “pressure” from loved ones to pop the question to his long-term love.
“I’m certainly feeling pressure, heat from family members,” he told E! News last year.
“But Nicole’s massively focused on her work the same as I am. We’re happy just way we are.”
He did say marriage at “one point … will be for us.”
Lewis and Scherzinger first went public with their relationship in 2007. They broke up several times, seemingly for good in July 2013.
They reconciled in February 2014 before engagement rumours began circulating.
But now sources say the relationship is officially over.
